Rekindle...rediscover...reconnect

August 07, 2013

Have you ever wondered why you don't do the things you love any more?
Do you have lost passions and hobbies that have fallen by the wayside?

There are many obvious reasons why this happens.
Perhaps, like me, you're a busy mum, juggling work and domestic life.
Or maybe you are just bogged down in study, a demanding career, an engaging intimate relationship or a ridiculously busy social calendar.

But taking the time to rekindle a lost passion is one of the best things we can do to regain joy and self confidence.

I know because I've done it. After many years of parenting small children and juggling the demands of motherhood, work, business and domestic life I became lost along the way. I'd given up many things that made me happy. But one day recently I sat down and made an inventory of what was missing and the list was surprisingly LARGE. It was no wonder I was unhappy.

So I vowed from that moment on to rekindle some of my lost passions. Since then I've rediscovered five, and I'm certainly feeling more alive and more like ME. They might seem silly to some but what matters is that they are valuable to ME. They include:

  • roller-blading (a long time love of mine - which makes me feel free every time I do it)
  • reading (which I do whenever I find the time)
  • socialising (making time to reconnect with long lost friends)
  • adventuring (getting out and about on weekends)
  • photography (another long lost love)

These simple things are important to me and since their return to my life not only have I rekindled passions, I have reconnected with my soul.

There are more things I would like to rediscover but for now, these five have well and truly lifted my spirits.

What have you lost lately?
Can you find five things to re-ignite passion in your life.
Rekindling just one is an extraordinary experience.

Take the time to rekindle a lost passion and reconnect with your soul.
It feels good.
